A Fighting ChanceThe Young Leaders Summit, sponsored by Washington Young Emerging Labor Leaders (WA YELL) and 21 Progress, will be held July 20-21 at the North Central Washington Labor Council, 27 N. Chelan Ave. in Wenatchee, prior to the Washington State Labor Council’s 2014 Convention.

With the theme “A Fighting Chance,” this exciting two-day summit is designed to engage and foster the political development of emerging young leaders in Washington state. Attendees will learn how to effectively use political organizing to bring about progressive and impactful changes so that anyone can affect the change they wish to see in their own community.

Civic engagement and political activism have been at the forefront of social change and iconic movements throughout America’s history. The Young Leaders Summit is committed to providing the skills and knowledge needed to give young people a fighting chance against oppressive institutional powers. This year’s Summit will include engaging, hands-on workshops, interesting panels, and motivational speakers from all over the state.

Attendance is open for all those who are interested in making a positive difference in their community through the use of civic engagement and political action. Participants with a broad range of political organizing experience and skills are being sought. No prior exposure is necessary.

To register, fill out and return this form. The cost is $65, which includes lodging at the Coast Wenatchee Hotel, food, T-shirt and Summit registration fee. For more information, email WA YELL Co-Presidents Justine Winnie and Shaunie Wheeler-Saelee or call 206-790-2111. To learn more about WA YELL, visit their Facebook page.
