The following is the official statement of James P. Hoffa, General President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters on the announcement of Sharon Block’s appointment to Senior Public Engagement Advisor for Labor and Working Families.

“With the announcement of Sharon Block’s installation as Senior Advisor for Labor and Working Families in the White House Office of Public Engagement, the administration has made a real commitment to focusing on the issues that concern middle class Americans.

“Sharon Block has a proven track record as a voice for working families, serving on the NLRB in 2012 and 2013 and as Senior Counselor to Secretary of Labor Tom Perez. This is a victory for middle class and I look forward to working with Ms. Block.”
