Meaza Ogbe, Organizer

Support collective bargainingHello my name is Meaza Ogbe I have been a member of local 174 since 2008 when I worked as an International organizer on the Port campaign. During that time we organized one of the first strikes against the Port of Seattle. I come from a family rooted in union principles. My dad recently retired from the Seafarer’s International Union, the job he had while providing for me and my brothers and sisters. A quote that was common around my house was, “Everyone knows you don’t go to court without a lawyer, but you would be even crazier to go to work without a union”. Throughout my tenure at the IBT I worked on campaigns all over the country, but nothing fills me with more pride than coming home and organizing for my local, the most militant and solid local in the International, Teamsters Local 174. Thank you all for this opportunity.
