From Teamsters Local 959 in Alaska:
The ice road work will be starting very soon. As the temperatures drop on the North Slope and ice road permits are issued allowing us to start work, things will ramp up very quickly.
Once ice roads are completed, many will continue working doing ice road maintenance throughout the winter, while all others will have opportunities to haul gravel for the new roads and pads being built for the Willow Project.
Pipeline work will commence as soon as access to the pipeline right-of-way is available via ice roads. We expect the employers to start requesting the bulk of the drivers and surveyors, with start dates as early as the last week of December continuing weekly through mid-January. We will provide you with as much notice as possible to prepare.
We will need to bring on an additional 300 Teamster drivers and Surveyors this winter due to the Willow Project kicking off. As we have open jobs, we will work through our list and call those applicants that have the relevant experience for the opening. At that time, we will give you the final details and we will submit your name and information to the employer once you have accepted the job.
