Organizers and Communications
Meaza Ogbe, Director of Organizing
Meaza has been a member of Local 174 since 2008, when she worked as an International organizer on the Port campaign. During that time, she helped to organized one of the first strikes against the Port of Seattle. She comes from a family rooted in Union principles. Her father recently retired from the Seafarer’s International Union, the job he had while providing for her and her brothers and sisters. A quote that was common around her home growing up was “Everyone knows you don’t go to court without a lawyer, but you would be even crazier to go to work without a Union.” Throughout her tenure at the IBT, Meaza worked on campaigns all over the country, but nothing fills her with more pride than coming home and organizing for her home Local, Local 174, the most militant and solid local in the Teamsters.
