IBT | The Teamsters Union extends its deepest condolences to the friends and family of SAG-AFTRA President Ken Howard.
As president of SAG-AFTRA, Howard built a strong relationship with all trade unions that work in the film, television and theatrical trades. His legacy will endure thanks to the historic merger of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists in 2012.
“Ken Howard was a true friend to the Teamsters Union and stood united with us on countless issues that impacted our members in the film and television industry,” said Teamsters General President James P. Hoffa. “His impressive drive and iron will, allowed him to succeed where others had failed, uniting SAG and AFTRA and increasing their collective strength.”
“Theatrical Teamsters and all of labor mourn the passing of Ken Howard,” said Thomas J. O’Donnell, Director of the Teamsters Motion Picture and Theatrical Trade Division and President of Theatrical Teamsters Local Union 817 in New York City, N.Y. “As the architect of the SAG-AFTRA merger, he was a man who cast a tall shadow. He will be missed.”
