National Contract Covering More Than 18,000 Costco Teamsters Expires January 31

(ISSAQUAH, Wash.) — Costco Teamsters will rally outside the company’s corporate headquarters during its annual shareholder meeting on Thursday. The Teamsters are demanding the strongest possible contract and are prepared to strike if the company fails to deliver.

Earlier this week, Costco Teamsters across the country voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike if an acceptable agreement isn’t reached by the January 31 deadline. The Costco Teamsters National Master Agreement covers over 18,000 workers nationwide. Workers are demanding an industry-leading contract that matches Costco’s record-breaking profits and holds the company accountable for its so-called “pro-worker” reputation.

Costco is more profitable than ever. In 2024, the company reported $254 billion in revenue and $7.4 billion in net profits – a dramatic increase from $6.3 billion in 2023 and a 135 percent jump from 2018. Yet instead of delivering a contract that rewards the workers who make its success possible, Costco has so far refused to offer a contract that reflects its massive profit margin.
